Download These instructions will provide the basic and necessary information to allow a carbureted 302 to be converted to SEFI Fuel Injection. There are several different types of fuel injection conversions available, however, this instruction will concentrate on the High Output, MASS-AIR setups found on the 92-93 Ford Mustangs. There are two main advantages to using this type of setup. The first advantage is that the computer in the MASS-AIR system will automatically compensate for any engine modifications that have been done prior to the installation of the fuel injection system. The second advantage is that fuel is sent to each cylinder individually only during the appropriate firing cycle, meaning that fuel is sent sequentially to each cylinder only when the spark plug is ready to fire. This makes for an extremely efficient firing cycle . SEFI stands for Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection. This system is complex to be sure, therefore, this instruction is going to skip all the technical mumbo-jumbo, and focus on the bare essentials to install this system properly. To key to completing this conversion is to make sure you have all the correct components before you start the installation. The following is a list of required parts if you intend to use used parts: É Lower Intake Manifold – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Thermostat – ( new from local auto-parts store, for a 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Intake Gasket Set – ( new from local auto-parts store, for a 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Fuel Rail – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É 8 – 19 lb Fuel Injectors – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Fuel Injector Harness – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Upper Intake Manifold – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É EGR Spacer with Valve and Sensor – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Throttle Body with Throttle Body Position (TPS) Sensor and Idle Speed Control (ISP) Solenoid – ( for 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É EFI Valve Covers – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Valve Cover Gasket Set – ( new from local auto-parts store, for a 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Distributor with TFI Module – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Ignition E-Coil – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É EEC-IV Computer – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Main Wiring Harness – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Therm actor Air Bypass (TAB) Solenoid – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine)
É Therm actor Air Diverter (TAD) Solenoid – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Barometric Absolute Pressure (BAP) Sensor – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É 2 – Oxygen Sensors – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Air Charge Temperature (ACT) Sensor – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Mass Air Meter with Outlet Hose – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É EEC Relay – ( from 92-93 Mustang with 5.0 engine) É Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) – (ford dealer part# E3AZ-9E731-A) É Speedometer Cable for Speed Sensor – (ford dealer part# E9BZ-9A820-B) É Low Pressure High Volume Fuel Pump – (Aftermarket from Summit Racing) É High Pressure Low Volume Fuel Pump – (Aftermarket from Summit Racing) É New Fuel lines as necessary – (from you local auto-parts store) É New Upper Radiator hose – (from you local auto-parts store) É New Vacuum lines as necessary – (from you local auto-parts store) É New heater hose lines – (from you local auto-parts store) É Carbon Canister and Canister Purge Solenoid – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Ford EFI Throttle Cable – (from any 87-93 and above fuel injected ford with 5.0 engine) É Cold Air Intake Tube and Filter – (from you local auto-parts store) Now that looks like a long parts list, but it’s not as bad as it looks. Basically, it’s all the wires and components that connect the vehicles computer to the engine and it’s sensors and solenoids.
